We had a grand Yahtzee tournament. After corraling the kids' dad for a game-playing night, we were in the mood. So one night, when Daddy was on graveyard shift we had a Yahtzee tournament. To rev up for this and what gave us the idea was that we "changed the rules". How freeing! We played with 6 dice instead of 5 and changed a few items around to suit and gave ourselves 4 turns for each player instead of 3. Lots harder to get Yahtzee...
But, I digress. After we tired of this, I suggested, "Why don't we all throw the 6 dice and see who gets Yahtzee first?" This was greeted with much enthusiasm, so we proceeded to do it. One rule for this: You couldn't change your 'goal' in mid-stream. If you were going for fivesies, you had to stick to it - even if you only had 2 fives and 4 sixes... The results. Mandy (Mimi or "Mom") took both the most throws (40) to achieve a 6-dice Yahtzee and the least (5) on the first night of the Tournament. The next morning, she achieved a 6-dice Yahtzee in 4 and thought she had it, when Erin scooped her by achieving it in 2! Since no one had achieved it in one as yet (though Mimi did this later, when we weren't in tournament play), we threw to see who could achieve five-of-a-kind in one throw. No one could that morning - guess we were all tired, but Patrick achieved 4-of-a-kind first throw. So we were all winners. We found a cute dice graphic on Google, Mimi modified it a bit, and everybody had input into how our certificates looked. Our resident prima donna, Erin, was very specific on hers. Her name must be "pink", and she only wanted one picture of dice on hers. Take a look at our certificates! |
